Pastor's Letter: The Dominican Republic

Next up, we have a pastor's letter from our little Sebastian's project, DR-451! The photos are from Compassion's Santo Domingo page.

Dear Eric and Hannah,

May God always bless you!

My name is Agustin D. M., pastor of the Iglesia Asemblea de Dios Torre Fuerte (Assembly of God church "Strong Tower") in Higuay la Altagracia province, and Emanuel Student Center where Sebastian attends. We wish to inform you of the many blessings we have been receiving for our children.

In my prayers I thank God for you and I bless you richly and abundantly, as your contribution to Sebastian has been a blessing. For me and the congregation that God has given me is pure joy and pleasure to share with you the Lord's abundant grace.

When the Center opened our church was very motivated to have a closer relationship with the community. This has helped us to meet various needs in it such as supplying school items and food; many parents do not have the resources to supply the proper nutrition for their children. The parents of our children lack resources and even a roof to live with their children. So we thank you that with your help we have been able to develop service plans that are helping Sebastian and his family develop holistically.

In the cognitive area our children receive vocational training workshops to help them obtain resources and improve their standard of living, such as computer, stylists, electricity, decoration, and jewelry, among others. In regards to the spiritual our children are being affected by the high rate in crime which put our children to hazards such as abuse, prostitution and drugs. These problems motivate us as a church to a deep concern for children and their families. For this we have trained staff who work with children to help others to know the Lord as the only way out of the state in which they live, and they can be exemplary and realized Christians.

We have 319 children; 269 of them have sponsorship and the remaining 50 are waiting for a special friend. Each of the members receives spiritual care, visits, lectures, trainings, retreats, prayers and more. They also receive physical care, visits, lectures, trainings, retreats, prayer and more. They also receive physical care, looking after their health, nutrition, dental and medical care for themselves and their immediate families. Besides this we support their secular studies, internet rooms, library and homework rooms.

We thank God for the spiritual and economic work that our church is doing. We know that it would not be possible without your support of Sebastian, and that of Compassion for our children. Our children, adolescents and families are impacted wonderfully every day. Many of our participants have received Christ and their parents too.

All this has been possible thanks to the help of God and you. We trust that God will always be with us and that you along with your family will continue to help Sebastian. We cannot pay for all the effort that you have done for Sebastian and your love for him and your prayers. We understand the concern that the global crisis has brought; that is why we are praying more than ever for you and your family for God to continue to bless you, since you have followed God's command in Matthew 25:35: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink" (NIV).

We encourage you to continue to bless this ministry with your prayers; God will always be with you and your family. On behalf of Sebastian and his family, I say: Thank you and may peace from God overflow in you and your loved ones always!

God bless you!

Yours,
Pastor Augustin D.
