We recently received a whole package of letters from each country's director! These are also available on our kids' profiles on our Compassion account, which is really a great new resource.
Since this blog has become my scrapbook for my Compassion children, I wanted to share the letters here also, so that I can link them to each child's profile.

Beloved friend,
I am Michael D., Program Director of Bangladesh. I have worked with Compassion’s ministry since May 2013. I believe God called me to be part of this ministry due to my dream to serve the children and churches of this country. The program started in Bangladesh in 2004. Presently, we care for about 38,000 registered children and more than 340 mothers and babies through 169 church partners.
It’s my great pleasure to express my hearty thanks and gratitude to you for contributing in the life of your child in Bangladesh. We aim to enable children to be the agents of change. Your awesome love, wonderful support and prayers for your sponsored child create new hope for the future.
Poverty, low literacy rates, discrimination between boy and girl children, child abuse, and little access to health services are some common struggles of the children in Bangladesh. Low income of the parents makes it difficult for them to bear the educational and health expenses of the children. Access to better health services is a serious need in Bangladesh. The social system and customs such as early marriage, the dowry system, discouraging girls’ education, and child labor are major contributors to the underdevelopment of children.
We have been releasing children from poverty in Bangladesh for the last 12 years, and we hope to continue. We desire to see a transformed nation, which could be possible through our partnership with people like you and with the churches. It is encouraging that churches have started using Qavah [a participatory church-development process], which is helping them care for their own communities by identifying their needs and mobilizing local resources.
We desire that our children will not only be safe in the child development centers, but that they will be protected from all sorts of abuse in the communities they live in and even at home. We have around 5,500 adolescent children who need counseling and mentoring to become fulfilled adults who know God’s love. We hope to design the adolescent program to create more space for meaningful interactions.
Every letter is an inspiration for the children. It reminds them that someone thousands of miles away cares for them and is always thinking about them. When sponsors tell their children how they frame their photos and display them, it makes the children feel special. Your letter is a symbol of love, care, strength, hope, joy and encouragement to your child. When a child does not receive a letter but his or her friends do, it makes the child feel less connected with the sponsor. Deep down, the child feels envy toward friends who often get letters and gifts.
Your support and prayers are the pillars of our strength that keep us going, despite the hurdles that we confront every day. Sponsor support gives the field office staff inspiration to work as a team and keep a close watch on the development of the children. Please pray for the ever-growing children, the staff, and the government of Bangladesh, so that all of us can work together in supporting each other.
In conclusion, I would like to extend my gratitude for your great contribution toward making the dreams of your sponsored child a reality. We pray that with your faithful support and God’s abundant blessings, we will be able to see a transformed nation that will only glorify God.

Greetings. I am Kali MC the director of DA Church. I am privileged to lead the [BD-520] CDC attended by Emon. Our center is situated in the DA village.
In our center we have 184 registered children. This Center is blessed by God. Kids are growing physically, mentally and socially. They are getting everything to grow properly. This is possible because of sponsors' love and support. I am thankful to you for sponsoring Emon.
I maintain a good relationship with children and their parents who attend the church service. I visit their house and pray for them. I insist parents send their children to the Center.
I really love to work with Center. We feed kids who would die without care. We are beside them. Many kids cannot afford educational expenses. Our Center bears the expenses. With the help of the Center these kids will be educated people one day. They will be the leaders to lead next generation. This is my dream with these children. The workers of this Center are working very hard.
The relationship of a sponsor and child is very important. Kids get motivation and inspiration form sponsors that church or their parents cannot give. When they get letters or pictures from a sponsor they realize they are loved. This has changed their life a lot. Like before they never had a birthday party or gift. But now they have birthday programs in the Center. They thank God because they have foreigner parents, who love them and send letters for them. Parents are so grateful to the sponsors for making their children happy. This is very significant. So I request you write to Emon as much as you can.

While there are no children available from Bangladesh, you can sponsor a child from Asia! Please consider Rangga of Indonesia, who will turn 6 on September 1. He has been waiting over 300 days for a sponsor.
Rangga lives with his father and his mother. His father is sometimes employed and his mother maintains the home. Rangga works at home carrying water, caring for children and running errands. There are 2 children in the family.
Rangga is not presently attending school. Soccer, playing with cars and running are his favorite activities. He also attends church activities regularly. To sponsor Rangga, click here.
I have been able to chat some with Prince, a pastor of a Compassion project in Bangladesh. Prince's project is BD-227. But in addition to serving the kids in the community via Compassion's program, Prince and his wife has also begun a ministry, NLC-Ministry, serving children in their village! They provide needy children with educational opportunities and the kids join activities on Fridays and Saturdays.
Prince shared with me, "I have a long list who waiting for their education sponsors. I have total 150 ultra poor families children every month we support them pens ,Paper, Pencils,and other supplies. I have some orphans children too."
He said that it costs $7 to sponsor one of his children and to provide them with educational supplies! And he currently has 21 sponsored children!
I would like to share some of NLC-Ministry's information with you! Please be praying for this ministry, that God would provide sponsors and funding for these kids and the ministry and that many kids would come to know Christ!

I have decided that two Fridays a month, I will post an international highlight, where I will share links to information on various countries. I'll go in alphabetical order and work through all the countries where Compassion works. My hope is to bring resources to you. I love reading the Compassion blog and website, but I know that when life is busy, you may not always have a lot of time to sit down and read! So I thought I'd bring my favorite blogs and videos to you.
My hope is that this will encourage you to pray for the kids and Compassion workers in each specific country and that it will encourage you to write to your kid (if you have a kid in that country). And if you don't have a kid in this country, maybe you'll be inspired to sponsor one.
