Dear Eric and Hannah,

Warm Christian greetings in the most precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Loving Savior and the finisher of our faith! I am Nancy G. B., the Project Director of [PH-278] CDC. This center is located in Palawan, Philippines. I'm so honored to write to you again on behalf to the church, the center, and your sponsored child to give you some exciting updates. Before I go further, let me express my heartfelt gratitude to you for sponsoring Earl John.

I would like to share with you the story of a five year old girl. She came from a broken and complicated family situation. She shows a vibrant, loving spirit, and is always happy. You could not imagine that during her first year as a registered child, she was shy, uncooperative, and always crying out loud. But now she sings worship songs, recites several verses, and attend church regularly with family.

I also love to share how a 21 year old survived a vehicular accident. This has caused his right leg to be dislocated. It was a helpless situation. With faith, we prayed to God for his healing and financial needs to be met. We praised God that he has answered our prayers for him. He underwent an operation to fix his right leg and we were able to cover the cost. he's so grateful to God that he was able to return to his normal life now.

All our children are given an opportunity to go to school through the center's financial assistance. We pay their school fees and provide their school supplies and uniforms. We them life skills to help them become self-sufficient and productive citizens. This year, the teens will have skills development such as cosmetology and the most loved culinary arts. (Filipinos love cooking.)

It is always a happy moment for children whenever they receive letters. They make the children and their families feel loved and cared for.

And as years passed by, many of our children have graduated, and most have finished well with their chosen careers and are now working.

Serving in this kind of ministry is so challenging and fulfilling. It is certainly not an easy task but by God's grace, we continue to work hand in hand in fulfilling our vision, mission and goals. Most of all, we are committed to helping the children to know about Jesus, to be saved and continue to live a life according to the will of God. Seeing them following Christ in their life is our greatest reward for our endeavors.

And before I forget, I would like to share about the good changes we have in this center. Our church partner has two new energetic pastors who replaced the former one who is a senior. This is also a direct answer from God to our prayers to provide us youth pastors who could help us manage our teens, and lead in the discipleship program.

Dear Eric and Hannah,

Regards, grace and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am Flor Maria M. R. Through this letter I am writing to you as the Project Director of the CDC in LV, located in the neighborhood TA, in the District of Buenaventura, belonging to the Region of Valle del Cauca - Colombia attended by your sponsored child.

We are totally grateful first to our Lord Jesus Christ, and second with you for your unconditional support of Isabella.

Children from many different situations currently are attending the center, most of who live in vulnerable situations, some of them only receive food that is provided in the CDC in office hours, others only have one parent, and others lives with their grandparents either paternal or maternal.

This center has been a great blessing to the community because through the interventions carried out we are able to decrease the risk factors presented by the population through days of spiritual enrichment, sharing things and sports. Through parent trainings we can educate caregivers on the optimal development of children, to acquire skills and improve their skills. Besides the community, we also make an impact on children who are fundamental part of the center, because we are optimizing the cognitive, physical, motor, social-emotional skills. Also we strength the spiritual part of the children who attend the Development Center.

Likewise, this program has been a great blessing for the children, because it has allowed them to change their way of looking at life, know that there is a loving God who sent His only son to die for them, realize that this love is reflected in others who want to see them grow in a balanced way and understand how they can serve in their community when they have the opportunity.

The children at the center have written a total of approximately 156 letters. It is important to point out that our children are happy to know that their sponsors keep them in mind not only for economic reasons, but also in the emotional and spiritual areas. However, those without sponsors, at not receiving anything, feel somewhat unprotected; a situation that we keep in prayers, so that God may be putting grace in other people as He has placed you so that all our children can be sponsored.

My wish is that children have a good diet during the five days of the week that they come to the center as this becomes vital for them to have optimal development in their learning, and their cognitive area can evolve quickly.

Finally, I keep thanking God for having guided you to us. May He give many spiritual and financial blessings to you and all your descendants. Thank you for your support of Isabella.

Dear Eric and Hannah,

May the grace and blessing of God keep continuously on you and your family. I am Enys Z. V., Project Director of the CDC [CO-508] attended by your sponsored child. We are located in the beautiful city of Cartagena in the country of Colombia.

This time I write you with great joy and satisfaction in my heart. Thanks because I can thank you for all your love, affection and special appreciation to Kenedy. As a church and CDC we are fully convinced that God will reward every day all the support you give.

Our community of SF and SI are neighborhoods made up of happy and enterprising people, who every day are challenged to face and improve their poverty, community and family conflicts that sometimes cause our boys and girls to suffer.

However, there is faith in our hearts that the limits and barriers can be removed to see the dreams came true, families restored and transformed by the hand of God; and for this reason we are committed as a team in imparting to the children life principles that help in making good decisions for the future of each of them. We've been introducing Christ as Lord and Savior. The children actively participate in Biblical teachings and spiritual retreats where they are strengthened and challenged to a better lifestyle.

Currently adolescents between 12 and 17 years are learning to design shoes like sandals and now are selling them. They have learned to print blouses, fabrics and glasses. Besides this teenagers are learning beauty and manicure and pedicure and they make beautiful hairstyles. These workshops have been done from a support provided with Complementary Interventions operated by the church and Compassion. It has been a valuable life experience for our kids since they can generate income for their families with this learning.

On the birthday of the children, we make them a big party with friends the center. They share cakes, presents and games. It is a beautiful way to share this special day. They participate in playful and recreational activities, and also we strengthen their cognitive developmental through school reinforcement, in addition to receiving from each tutor the teaching of the curriculum that helps them improve the cognitive, physical, spiritual and social-emotional areas.

We believe that each of the activities implemented in the CDC generates impact in their hearts and releases them from any adverse circumstance because the purpose of all this beautiful work is that they become responsible and full adults who serve with a positive leadership in our society.

Finally, I thank the sponsors for each letter sent to the children which generates a smile on their faces; because for them is of great joy to hear from their second parents; and likewise they respond to these letters received and share personal and family experiences.

I ask you to continue praying for the BCGN and the work done in this community, for everyone who has an active part in this work so that their forces continue and they keep strengthened, filled with love and hope to transform children and their families in the Name of Jesus.

Dear Eric and Hannah,

I am Susan M., Project Social Worker for B PEFA C in Coast region of Kenya that ministers to your sponsored child at the [KE-388] CDC. I am very thankful to you for sponsoring Japhet from our center; for the monthly support you always give to ensure growth physically, spiritually and socially.

I would like to share the story of a boy from this center. The child comes from a financially struggling family background, and joined this center in 2012. The child was physically fit but was not allowed to go to church because his family was Muslims. He had a thirst for knowing God. During morning devotion, he would praise God the way he knows best. I am happy to tell you that the child now follows Jesus, and he is praising and worshipping God with all of his strength.

I would also like to share the story of a girl who is also from this center. The child is very active in the center. She has acquired piano and tailoring skills from the center. she can make good clothes for her siblings and her family. The center staffs are happy and thankful to God for growth and development.

Through your support Compassion International Kenya has done a lot for the center children. Initially, the center had only two pit latrines. We thank God because through Complementary Intervention we not have enough toilets for the center children and staffs.

I am very thankful for the letters sponsors send to their sponsored children. The letters are encouraging to them and they feel good when they receive them. One boy is always exceed to get a letter from his sponsor because his sponsor always tells him of other children who were in the Compassion centers like him, and they are now doing well in life. He always says that the stories give him a morale to continue attending the program and to work hard in school for him to get good grades. I hope you will write often.

I am always happy to work with children and guide them on how to live God's way. I get so excited when I see children praise and spread the Word of God. I get so inspired when children are physically healthy and free form poverty related diseases, when I see children attending school regularly and can interact well with others in a compassionate manner. I always believe that this is through your support and prayers. I am always praying for you so that God would continue to bless you in whatever you do. I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones in good health.

I am Ruth Delania O. A., the Project Director of [DR-309] attended by your sponsored child. We are connected to the church IBCEC which located in SPM in the Dominican Republic. Thank you for sponsoring Ana.

I thank God very much for all of the sponsors of our children, for your great support, friendship and love toward your sponsored child.

I want to tell you about one of our 7th grade girls who is a very intelligent and cooperative girl. Since attending classes and activities at the center, she has made significant improvement in reading and writing. One of her favorite hobbies now is reading, and this is reflected in her grades. She has good behavior and is respectful and friendly. One day, she wants to study medicine.

I also want to tell you about an 18 year old girl who accepted Christ 3 years ago. Thanks to the grace of God, she is firm in her decision to follow Him and grow in God's grace. She helps out with the children on Saturdays, and she's part of the team that helps with the audiovisual technology in church. By nature, she's loyal and kind, and admires people who do not give up. She knows English, and one day she wants to study Industrial Engineering.

Recently we received a very special gift, and we are so grateful to God for this. We received a fridge which we needed to preserve the food that we use for meals and snacks for our sponsored children.

The children are happy when they receive letters from their sponsors because they are full of details that make them feel valued, loved, and that they have friends who are concerned about them. They are thankful that their sponsors care for their well-being, and that he or she takes the time to write beautiful words of motivation and encouragement for them.

Something that inspires me to continue my work in the center is my love and obedience to God because He called me to this ministry many years ago. I had the opportunity of studying Pharmacy in college but God, by His grace, chose me for this ministry. Proverbs 22:6. The children who come to us are very intelligent, and quickly learn the Bible stories, songs and prayers. Then, they put them into practice. It satisfies me very much when I hear the parents saying that their children ask them to pray before eating or that they share something from the Bible with them.

Please always pray for the staff at our center so that the Lord will give us the wisdom and the strength that is necessary to carry out this excellent work for His glory and honor.

Dear Eric and Hannah,

Greetings in the name of our God!

My name is S., and I am the Project Director of the CDC in Delhi, India where your sponsored child attends. I am very grateful for your support of Arun.

When the children arrive, they are given nutritious food. We spend time teaching them, and we play games with them. The children who struggle in school are given extra attention in the center. Each month we also give the children hygiene supplies. We try to identify each child's talents, and we spend time counseling and training them according to their abilities. We can enroll the children in various activities such as computer education, sports, music lessons, art and dance. During the summer season we conduct camps for the children in which they study the Scriptures, and they learn many songs, they play games, do skits and make painting and drawings.

We take them on field trips to historic and famous places, we go on retreats, and we conduct medical check-ups. Each child who is 12 years old or older can plan for their future and can talk about what they want to do when they grow up with the My Plan for Tomorrow tool.

Whenever children receive letters, they feel so great of themselves and happy to reply as soon as possible to the sponsor. They never had this kind of experience of letter writing or receiving from someone and especially not from someone who loves them and wants to hear from them.

Overall, after them come to the center we can see lots of changes among the children as well in their families and in the community where they live. I can tell you that. After coming to the center they start to think that they too are special. Now they do not have to end up like their parents who had no hope for a good future. They can dare to think big. Through this opportunity, they are able to help future generations, as well.

Please keep on praying for us, for these precious children and for their families. Pray that every child should experience God's love. I ask you to pray for us, especially for the construction of a kitchen and land to build a big place for the church. Also pray for the center.

Project Director's Letter: Burkina Faso

Dear Eric & Hannah,

I am K. Adeline W., the team leader of the CDC in the A Church of D. The center which Firmin attends is located in the town of D, Burkina Faso.

I am so happy that God has put in your heart to help Firmin.

The impact of the CDC implemented by Compassion certifies that the inspiration is truly divine. INdeed, at the opening of the activities of our center in November 2014, a boy of almost 4 years old registered in the center particularly attracted our attention by his behavior. He refused to join the other children registered in the center, and used to cry until he sleeps. Sometimes he even returned home without taking any meals at the center. So after a long conversation with his mother, we were able to solve the problem. Now this child sings some gospel songs he learns in the center.

His mother confirms these changes in her child's life in saying that, every Thursday morning; her child puts pressure on her to take him to the center. It is clear that the program has changed the child.

I know that dialogue is always important in a relationship. The center children are so happy to receive letters from their sponsors. They find themselves so important when their sponsors write them. Some children even tell their friends that they have a sponsor from abroad.

Particularly, I like to work within the children because they are sincere and innocent. Our center motto is love, and together we show love to all the center children.

The CDC thanks the Lord for protecting the children lives and the quick growing of the sponsored children in this short time.

However, I would like you to pray for the children and their parents to accept Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. Pray also for our center to have a playground for the children.

Dear Eric and Hannah,

I am Liliana G., the director of the church [EC-470] and associated CDC ministering to Katherin.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to you for your support of Katherin and this entire Center.

The church is located in the community of C; most of the inhabitants are Afro-Ecuadorians. The weather is warm and the main economic activity is the cultivation of products such as beans.

The biggest challenge that the community has is the poverty cause by the lack of opportunities since most of people don't have an educational background. There is also a constant vacation of the prices of farm products that they cultivate for sale, and this situation makes that mothers have to travel to other cities in order to sell these products and leave their homes and children all alone. We have a high rate of dysfunctional families.

As church, our vision and biggest desire is that the families can be united in the love of Christ and also that our community practices the life that Jesus taught us. The Center has the goal of forming lives that can be an impact in the community through the example of Jesus.

Children who participate in the Center have the opportunity to grow with a conviction based on the Word of God and form their character in order to take good decisions in every area of their lives. On December of the last year, during the Christmas program, many children took the decision of receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

One of the things that pleases us the most, is to witness the exception that children have when we start the Center activities. They are very excited and have many questions about what they are going to learn each day.

As church, we have put in practice the teachings of the Word of God and we have organized home visits to families with much need in order to know their reality and give them a word of hope. We also give them a groceries basket and pray for their lives.

When children receive a letter they feel recognized by their sponsors. They express their happiness, sharing the photographs and letters with their relatives and friends. They are interested in the sponsors' lives and they want to meet them personally. On the other hand, children who don't receive letters, have a feeling of abandonment and they don't feel motivated to participate in the center.

The sponsorship program allows us to reach children and youths from other communities such as P, A, J, C and P. It has opened doors to preach the message of Jesus Christ in these zones and fulfill the Great Commission.

Please pray for the families so they can receive the Word of God and also pray that we can consolidate a good leadership in order to serve our children and youths. We ask you to pray for each one of the children and families so that they can accomplish the purpose that God has for each one of them and that our children can become a light in the middle of our society, giving the Lord the place He deserves.

We encourage you to continue being a difference in the life of Katherin.

Dear Eric and Hannah,

Greetings to you!

I am D., Project Manager of the Compassion-assisted CDC in the Jharkhand region of India where your sponsored child attends. I am thankful to you for sponsoring Dinesh. Our center is located in a remote village near the Munda tribal community. Addiction to alcohol, belief in superstition, and witchcraft are common here.

I am glad to share the story of one who has joined the engineering studies in Odisha this year. This is a success story not only for our center but also for the community. This is the first time in the history of this tribal community that a child has gone to study engineering. His parents are happy with the staff and development center. They are thankful to both Compassion and the boy's sponsor for the support because they have made it possible for him to have dreams and pursue them successfully.

I would also like to share another story. There is a girl who has joined a nursing school in another state of India with the support of Compassion and a government scholarship. Her mother, who works as a maid to support the family, couldn't have through of educating her daughter to this level. She is equally thankful of the girl's sponsor and to Compassion for being there when her daughter needed support and guidance.

In order to equip the parents with long-term income-generating skills that will not require them to travel outside their state in search of steady income opportunities, we gave one pair of piglets to some children and their families. After seven months, the piglets had grown and gave birth to nine more piglets. Most families now have been able to increase the count of their pigs and sell them. In this way, they have been able to provide for their families and even save their money. The interest generated from the bank on their deposit would help them meet their regular needs.

I'd like to mention a few things about the importance of letters. Whenever children receive letters from their sponsors they feel happy. It gives them a feeling of worth, knowing that there is someone to take care of them and to pray for them. Letter writing is a new thing for children in which they are slowly improving through practice. Children share with their parents everything about their sponsors, their country, and many other things that they learn from their sponsors. When sponsors send birthday greetings to their sponsored children, stickers, photos, and other gifts, it makes children happy.

I am inspired a lot to continue my work here because through children I can easily have an impact on the community.

Five children have joined the Industrial Training Institute in Odisha. Many children have passed their high school exam and taken admission into grade 11. I ask you to pray for them, that they would grow into responsible individuals. Also pray for our community, children, women, family members of our children, the CDC, our staff members and that the social evils such as superstition, alcoholism, child marriage, and extra-marital relationships would end.

Finally, I express my heartfelt thanks to you for providing for Dinesh. Our sponsors enable us to help the neediest tribal chidden to come up in life and be able to become a part of the mainstream society. Thanking you.

Project Director's Letter: Colombia (CO-144)

Dear Eric and Hannah,

Receive warm and sincere greetings, with the best wishes for yours and your family's lives to be blessed by our good God.

My name is Diana L. I'm the Project Director of [CO-144] which serves your sponsored child, Valeria. Our center is located in the Andean region of Colombia.

Through this letter, I want to thank you for the support you give to Valeria, making it possible for your child to attend the center, to learn skills, and to develop comprehensively in life.

In our community, there are different situations that show the need to guide our children and teenagers so they want to have a healthy life and not be involved in drug abuse and vandalism. This is why, as a center, we try to impact the lives of the children through different activities. Your contributions help make our work effective, and now we can see engagers and young people motivated to be different and to participate in change for a different community that accepts them and values them for their confident behavior. This brings joy and satisfaction to the lives of this who work here to make it happen.

Our children, through the lessons learned, have changed their perception of their lives and expressed a desire to be men and women who contribute to their families, both spiritually and economically. To do this, they are motivated to study, supported by the center that contributes through different teachings, including workshops of income-generating skills. This allows them to have a clearer vision of what they want and can be in the future.

In the past year, we've had the opportunity to be visited by three sponsors, who with love and kindness accept our children and adolescents. In that time, we have received about 300 letters from sponsors to their children and teens. This is an event that brings great joy to those who receive letters. At the same time, it motivates them to write their sponsors.

It is my pleasure to write to you and keep you in my prayers. I thank you for praying for those who are part of the center staff, for us to be useful vessels in the hands of God and continue contributing to the comprehensive change in the lives of Valeria. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord.

Juan makes his home with his father and his mother. Buying or selling in the market, making beds and running errands are his household duties. His father is employed and his mother maintains the home. There are 2 children in the family.

Soccer, bicycling and listening to music are Juan's favorite activities. In middle school his performance is average and he also regularly attends Bible class, youth group and camp. To sponsor Juan, click here.
