Mana 4 Lempira: Meet Oscar & Kendra

We want to introduce you to Kendra and Oscar! We sponsored them through Mana 4 Lempira. The program works with Honduran churches and was started up by Compassion advocates. It costs $15 a month to sponsor and sponsorship not only provides our sponsored kids two meals per week, school shoes, supplies and discipleship opportunities, but the money also provides two meals a week for 60 additional kids!

We're able to send a letter a month (with paper gifts) and we'll be able to send physical gifts at least once a year! We chose this organization because Juanito and Rosie will get to send letters and physical gifts and will receive photos of the child with those letters and gifts. We think this will help our kids connect better with the kids they're writing to!

So we sponsored Oscar and set Juanito up as the correspondent. They're about the same age. We're not exactly sure when Oscar's birthday is, but Juanito thought he looked like a good friend and wants to send him one of his superheros for Christmas.

And we set Rosie up as Kendra's correspondent. Rosie and Kendra both turned two this month and are just seven days apart in age!

We've been working on introduction books thanks to the inspiration from the post Kim's Compassion: Welcoming a New Child. The kids are having a blast coloring, painting, gluing, adding stickers and sharing about themselves!

I got the booklets at Target! This is Kendra's book, made by Rosie with a little help:

And this is Juanito's book for Oscar (I just wrote, he did the rest):
