I am Judyth N. M. I am the Project Director at the Child Development Center attended by your sponsored child, which operates at the Israel Church of the Evangelical Christian Union. The center is located in Villa Israel, in the Southern area of Cochabamba, Bolivia.

This is an area where many families in need live. There are parents who don’t have permanent jobs and some families that consist of the mother and the children alone, because the father has left the home. Many children are involved in delinquent gangs. These are children who want to take revenge for their abandonment from their parents. The only hope we can give them, as a church, is God.
We work five days a week at our center, because many see this place as a second home. The most outstanding activities and the ones where they like to participate are the soccer championships, Bible contests, Vacation Bible School, and children’s camp.
Our desire is that all of the kids and teenagers know the true God, so they can give glory and honor to Him through the things they live, in the environment in which they are, as sons and daughters of God.
We are supporting them with technical training courses. This year, we implemented a specific class for hairdressing and pastry-making, where many teenagers are being trained and will be able to sustain themselves. This training was a great help for the sponsored kids, because they changed their mentality. They thought they might have to work just like their parents, who are construction helpers, but today you can see the change in the fact that many of them will study for a college degree or will at least get technical training.
We hear their families say that their children are an example at home of how we must thank God before we eat our meals. They do that in the center and repeat it at home. We have sponsored teens who are leaders and teachers in Sunday school, and are sharing God’s Word.
I’d like to share about one of the sponsored kids who received a family gift. It was a great blessing because he was able to share it with his whole family. The mom was sick, and they were able to get the medication, and they gave honor and glory to God for receiving that blessing.
We also see how important it is to the children to receive letters from their sponsors, and also to write to them. They feel happy, and sometimes they are so excited they don’t even know how to answer back, but do know to pray for and thank God for their sponsor. It is also very sad to see some of the children and teens not receive any letters, and sometimes we see tears as they say their sponsors have forgotten about them.
The children are thrilled when a sponsor visits the center. It is very exciting and a great joy to personally shake the hand of sponsors, who are so far away from the place where the sponsored child lives.
The work of this ministry is so big and there is still a lot to do. That is why we ask for your prayers for the children and their families who need medical assistance. Poverty in our country makes it impossible for most families to have any insurance. Also, pray that the work God has started would be completed according the Lord’s will as we serve all the children and youth. May we be able to see accomplished men and women in the future.
