Dear Eric and Hannah,
I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I am Reverend David K, the pastor LP Church I, IB, where you sponsored child attends the [GH-301] CDC. The area is found in the GS district of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
I express my heartfelt gratitude to you for your unwavering support, care, and the love shown to Sandra. Indeed you sponsorship is God-sent and timely. I look at the children and beam with joy knowing that with God's protection there is hope for a better future.
The community is mostly made up of petty traders and a few professional workers, such as teachers and nurses. This community lacks basic amenities, such as potable water so the inhabitants resort to the purchase of sachet water for daily consumption and this is quite expensive. The community also lacks good drainage systems and sanitation facilities. The inhabitants are mostly short-term workers who only coat here to work after which they return to their permanent residence.
It is our vision to give meaning to the lives of the children by inculcating strong Christian character into them and help them grow to be responsible adults who will support their families, and develop the church and the community has a whole. The church and the center also endeavor not only to impact the children but also to educate parents and caregivers on topical issues like child protection and good parenting. The church has organized a health screening exercise of its members and the community so the participants can get to know their health status.
The help that the center provides for payment of part of the school fees of the children has helped some get the opportunity to go to school. Through this, some children have excelled in their academic performance at their schools. The center conducted a school performance assessment by comparing the academic, social, physical, and spiritual outcomes other children with those who have not been registered into the program and it was discovered that the center's children performed better at school and were socially, physically, and spiritually better. Their parents also testify to this fact. This shows that the registered children's lives are being transformed holistically.
A total of four families have become permanent members of the church since the beginning of the center. This year alone a total of 37 adolescents have professed their faith in the lordship of Christ, and we are still counting.
The children feel loved and valued when they receive and write letters to their sponsors. This channel of communication draws the children closer to their sponsors. The birthday and family gifts they receive from their sponsors have been useful as they have met some of the needs of the children and the family.
Overall, the center is doing well in helping the children. Some of the sponsored children are now in senior high schools, where they hold leadership positions. An adolescent girl is now the girls' prefect in one of the top senior high schools in the country. Others play different leadership roles such as class prefects and football captains in their clubs. Some also hold chaplaincy positions in their schools.
We humbly request that you continue to pray the the vision and mission of the center and the church would be fulfilled in Jesus' name.

Abenaamoakowaa makes her home with her mother. Helping in the kitchen and running errands are her household duties. Her mother is sometimes employed. There are 3 children in the family.
