Dear Eric and Hannah,
I am JJ Gnanaruban, director of [LK-302] the CDC attended by Krishanth. Our center is located in the East of Sri Lanka. It's the most beautiful and fascinating part of the island.
When we started serving this community, we understood that life for these people is not prosperous because of the hardships they have to undergo. It helped us to clearly understand that God had placed us in this place for a reason and that is to help this community. We thank God for Compassion International that has partnered with us in fulfilling the will of God for this community especially for the children.
When we started last year, it was a real challenge for us. This was the first Center of this sort in the area. But things are running smooth through the grace of God. Everyone is now connecting with the Center. We hope and pray that you will experience the same in your life.
Children come to the Center every afternoon and on Saturday morning. The staff await the arrival of the children. Every child gets special attention about their health and other matters. The children would start their studies and are taught lessons for the curriculum who covers the holistic growth of each child. I have seen the Center workers or teachers, singing, dancing and doing a lot of activity with the children. They give their maximum to the children. We as a Center listen to the children and to their parents. We share our lives and try to keep our children happy.
Our children are excelling in their studies and other activities. We have these testimonies from their parents and their teachers, they have shared often that their children are doing very well. The children are very clean now and methodical. Compassion along with the church has helped to ease the burdens of the families to a certain extent. The community has been impacted through the church because of the Center. People have realized that the church is not a mere institution but one that looks out for the betterment and wellbeing of the community.
There is a family in this area which needs assistance. The family is very poor and the breadwinner of the family was killed. The mother became suicidal because of the plight of the family. Now the mother is earning as a laborer and one of the children from this family is now at the Center.
We thank you very much for your partnership in this great work. I know that your reward will be great. We want to expand and continue this task. Please pray against all the obstacles and the wrong information that is spreading agains this good work. There is a need for more space in this Center. Please uphold this need in your prayers as well.
Once again I take this opportunity to thank you for your good work in eradicating poverty among children. We as a church ensure you of our commitment towards this goal. Let us join hands strongly to achieve this.
